Park Brake Shoes: Installation

  1. Apply Lubriplate(R) Lubricant, GM P/N 1050109 (Canadian P/N 5264008), or the equivalent, to the metal contact points on the backing plate, park brake shoe lever, adjuster strut and adjuster.
  2. Assemble the adjuster. Install the park brake shoe lever to the park brake cable.
  3. Install the park brake shoe lever and the rear shoe. Install the pin and the hold-down spring to the rear shoe.
  4. Install the adjuster and the adjuster strut to the rear shoe.
  5. Install the pin and the hold-down spring to the front shoe.
  6. Connect the adjuster to the front shoe.
  7. Install the tension spring. Install the return springs.
  8. Install the rear rotor. See REAR BRAKE ROTOR  . Install the rear caliper. See REAR BRAKE CALIPER  .
  9. Install the rear wheels and tires. Adjust the park brake system. See DISC PARKING BRAKE ADJUSTMENT  under DISC BRAKES in ADJUSTMENTS & INSPECTIONS.
