Drum Brake Adjusting Hardware Inspection

  1. Visually inspect the adjuster actuator spring for the following:
    • Excessive Corrosion
    • Excessive Stretching
    • Broken Hook Ends
    • Twisting
    • Binding
  2. If any of the listed conditions were found, the drum brake system adjuster hardware requires replacement. Inspect the adjuster assemblies for the following conditions:
    • Bent
    • Broken
    • Missing Or Broken Spring Attachment Tab
  3. If any of the listed conditions were found, the adjuster actuator lever and/or attaching hardware requires replacement.
