Installation Procedure

  1. Using the J 48809  , install the right axle shaft oil seal (1).

    Important  Inspect the sealing surface of the wheel drive shaft inner tri-pot housing to ensure it is free of corrosion. Use a crocus cloth in order to remove any light corrosion and clean the sealing surface with denatured alcohol, or equivalent.

  2. Lubricate the wheel drive shaft sealing surface of the oil seal with synthetic gear oil GM P/N United States 12378514 Canada P/N 88901045 or equivalent.
  3. Install the right wheel drive shaft. See AXLE SHAFTS - REAR article.
  4. Install the right rear tire and wheel assembly
  5. Inspect the differential lubricate level.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
