Installation Procedure

  1. Lubricate the O-ring with synthetic gear oil GM P/N United States 12378514 Canada P/N 88901045 or equivalent.
  2. Using the J 44915  , install the oil seal (2) to the drive pinion housing.

  3. Install the O-ring seal (4) to the drive pinion housing.
  4. Carefully install the drive pinion housing assembly (1) and shim (2) to the differential carrier (3).

  5. Install the pinion housing-to-differential mounting bolts (1).

    Tighten  Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (106 lb in).

  6. Lubricate the sealing surfaces of the drive pinion oil seal (1) with synthetic gear oil GM P/N United States 12378514 Canada P/N 88901045 or equivalent.

  7. Install the torque tube assembly. Refer to TORQUE TUBE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT .
  8. Fill the differential with synthetic gear oil.
