Front Door Latch: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE




1. Remove the trim panel.
2. Remove the water deflector.
3. Remove the inside handle rods from the front door inside handle.
4. Disconnect the clip securing the outside handle rod to the front door latch.




5. Remove the screws from the front door latch.




6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the front door latch.




7. Remove the front door latch with the inside handle rods attached to the front door latch through the access hole in the front door inner panel.




8. Remove the inside handle rods from the front door latch.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the inside handle rods to the front door latch.




2. Install the front door latch in the position through the access hole in the front door inner panel.




3. Connect the electrical connectors to the front door latch.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.




4. Install the front door latch screws to the front door latch.

Tighten
Tighten the front door latch screws to 10 N.m (89 lb in).




5. Connect the clip securing the outside handle rod to the front door latch.
6. Install the door handle rods to the inside door handle.
7. Install the water deflector.
8. Install the front door trim panel.
9. Inspect the front door latch system for the proper operation.
