Test Y: Door Ajar Indicator Inoperative
- If door system diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If door system diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to DOOR SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in POWER DOORS - AZTEK article.
- Open and close any door, verifying that fault in door ajar indicator exists. If problem exists, go to next step. If no problem exists at this time, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems, see PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS under INTERMITTENTS.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Working from inside of vehicle, close all doors. Using scan tool, observe door ajar switches parameters in Body Control Module (BCM) data list. Open and close each door one at a time. If scan tool parameter does not display active when any door was open, go to next step. If scan tool parameter displays active when any door was open, go to step 7.
- Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect pink Body Control Module (BCM) 24-pin harness connector C2. BCM is located in center console fuse block. Using test light connected to battery voltage, probe BCM harness connector C2 terminal A3 (Dark Blue/White wire). See Figure. Open and close each door, one at a time. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, go to step 8.
- Check for an open door ajar switch signal circuits, Dark Blue/White wire between door ajar switch terminal "C" and BCM harness connector C2 terminal A3. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. If no problem exists, go to next step. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step 13.
- Check for an open in door ajar switch ground circuits, Black wire between ground and door ajar switch terminal "C". See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article. Ground points are on respective "B" pillars under seat belt anchors. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step 13. If no problem exists, go to step 9.
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals at IPC harness connectors. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step 13. If no problem exists, go to step 10.
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals at BCM harness connectors. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step 13. If no problem exists, go to step 11.
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals at door ajar switch harness connector. If problem exists, repair as necessary and go to step 13. If no problem exists, go to step 12.
- Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step 13.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in BODY CONTROL MODULES - AZTEK article. After repairs are made, go to step 13.
- Replace suspect door ajar switch. After repairs are made, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If system operates normally, testing is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step 2.
