Test B: Chime Inoperative

  1. If audible warnings diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If audible warnings diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to AUDIBLE WARNINGS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position, and leave key in ignition switch. Open driver's door. If chime does not sound, go to next step. If chime sounds, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems, see PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS  under INTERMITTENTS.
  3. If courtesy lights turn on when door is opened, go to next step. If courtesy lights do not turn on when door is opened, repair as necessary. See ILLUMINATION/INTERIOR LIGHTS article.
  4. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn radio on. Adjust radio balance and fader to left front speaker. If left front speaker operates normally, go to next step. If left front speaker does not operate normally, repair audio system concern as necessary.
  5. Replace radio. Follow manufacturers installation instructions. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  6. Check system for normal operation. If system operates normally, test is complete. If system does not operate normally, go to step  2.
