Compass Magnetic Variation Adjustment
Compass variation is difference between magnetic north and geographic north. In some areas of the country the difference is great enough to cause compass to give a false reading. If this occurs, compass variance must be set. View variance zone display to determine correct zone. See Fig 1. Zones are numbered 1-15. Depress and hold both MODE and SET buttons simultaneously while DIC is in Compass/Temperature mode for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds, DIC will display current variation setting. Release buttons and adjust to correct variation number using MODE button. Consult map for variation zone numbers. When desired variation is reached press SET button to accept. Compass/Temperature mode cannot be reset, this mode is retained during ignition OFF.
