DTC B2838, B3564, B3569, or B3752: Driver Information Center (DIC) Switch Circuit: Testing

  1. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe Driver Information Center (DIC) MODE button or DIC RESET button parameter in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) inputs data list. If parameter does not display inactive, go to next step. If parameter displays inactive, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
  3. Disconnect DIC 6-pin harness connector. DIC switch is located on instrument panel cluster. Using scan tool, observe DIC MODE button or DIC RESET button parameter in IPC inputs data list. If suspected DIC switch parameter does not display inactive, go to next step. If suspected DIC switch parameter displays inactive, go to step  6.
  4. Check for short to ground in signal circuit of suspected DIC switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If no problem exists, go to next step. If problem exists, go to step  7.
  5. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step  7.
  6. Replace DIC. See DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  7. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle through code enable criteria. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC P0462 does not reset system is okay. If DTC resets, go to step  2.
