DTC B2752: Horn Relay Coil Circuit Low: Testing

  1. If horns diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If horns diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to HORNS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, command horn relay On and Off. If horn relay does not click with each command, go next step. If horn relay clicks with each command, go to DIAGNOSTIC AIDS  .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Remove horn relay from underhood junction block. Underhood junction block is located at right front of engine compartment, above battery. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using test light connected to ground, probe horn relay coil voltage supply socket cavity (circuit No. 740). See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step  10 .
  4. Connect a test light between horn relay coil voltage supply (circuit No. 740) and horn relay control circuit (circuit No. 29). Using scan tool, command horn relay On and Off. If test light does not turn On and Off with each command, go to next step. If test light turns On and Off with each command, go to step  8 .
  5. If test light does not remain illuminated with each command, go to next step. If test light remains illuminated with each command, go to step  7 .
  6. Check for open in horn relay control circuit between Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C1 terminal A11, or multifunction switch harness connector terminal "G" and underhood junction block harness connector C3 terminal A8 (Black wire). See Figure - Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  13 . If no problem is found, go to step  9 .
  7. Check for short to ground in horn relay control circuit between BCM harness connector C1 terminal A11, or multifunction switch harness connector terminal "G" and underhood junction block harness connector C3 terminal A8 (Black wire). See Figure - Figure . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step  13 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If no problem is found, go to step  9 .
  8. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in horn relay socket connector. If problem is found, repair as necessary an go to step  13 . If no problem is found, go to step  11 .
  9. Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals at BCM harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary an go to step  13 . If no problem is found, go to step  12 .
  10. Repair problem in battery voltage circuit of horn relay (circuit No. 740). See Figure . See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. After repairs are made, go to step  13 .
  11. Replace horn relay. After repairs are made, go to step  13 .
  12. Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - AZTEK article. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  13. Using scan tool, clear DTC. Operate vehicle within conditions for code enable criteria. If DTC B2752 does not reset, testing is complete. If DTC B2752 resets, go to step  2 .
