DTC B2961: Key in Ignition Circuit Malfunction: Description

Body Control Module (BCM) uses key in ignition input to control certain features in vehicle. These features are in following systems:

• Content theft deterrent (if equipped).
• Audible warnings.
• Automatic door locks.

Ignition switch switches key in ignition input circuit to ground when ignition key is inserted fully into ignition switch. This pulls BCM key ignition input to ground.

DTC sets when, ignition 0 input is active (high signal) and key-in-ignition input is inactive (high signal). Above conditions must be present for more than 0.3 seconds.

When DTC sets, BCM stores DTC B2961 in memory.
