DTC B2823: Trip Odometer Reset Switch Circuit Low: Testing

  1. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If instrument panel cluster diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  2. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, observe TRIP RESET SWITCH parameter in Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) inputs data list. If parameter displays active, go to next step. If parameter does not display active, go to step  4.
  3. Press and release trip reset switch. Using scan tool, observe TRIP RESET SWITCH parameter in IPC inputs data list. If parameter does not change state and odometer changes from season to trip, go to next step. If parameter changes state and odometer changes from season to trip, concern may be intermittent. For aid in diagnosing intermittent problems, see PROBLEM DIAGNOSIS  under INTERMITTENTS.
  4. Replace IPC. See INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
  5. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Operate vehicle through code enable criteria. Retrieve DTCs. If DTC does not reset, system is okay. If DTC resets, go to  2.
