Malfunction Indicator Lamp

PCM illuminates Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (service engine soon or check engine) when following occurs:

• PCM detects a malfunction in emissions system.
• PCM performs bulb display test at start of each ignition cycle.
• Indicator illuminates for approximately 3 seconds, when ignition switch is in RUN position.
