Low Coolant Indicator Stays On When Coolant Level Is Okay

  1. Ensure coolant level is okay. Disconnect engine coolant level indicator module. Turn ignition switch to RUN position (engine off). If low coolant indicator illuminates, go to next step. If low coolant indicator does not illuminate, replace engine coolant level indicator module.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect Black 17-pin connector C200A from Black 48-pin connector C200D (forward lamp-to-instrument panel wiring harness, located between left kick panel and steering column). Connect a test light between connector C200A terminal A17 (Yellow/Black wire) and battery voltage. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step. If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between connector C200A and engine coolant level indicator module.
  3. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Blue 32-pin connector C3. Connect a test light between BCM harness connector C3, terminal C15 (Yellow/Black wire) and battery voltage. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair or replace BCM. See appropriate BODY CONTROL MODULES article.
  4. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Connect a test light between instrument cluster harness connector terminal A6 (Yellow/Black wire) and battery voltage. If test light illuminates, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between instrument cluster, connector C200D and BCM. If test light does not illuminate, repair or replace instrument cluster.
