No Low Oil Indicator With Low Oil Level

  1. Turn ignition off and on while monitoring low oil indicator. If low oil indicator turns on for about one second, go to next step. If low oil indicator did not turn on, replace low oil indicator bulb. Cycle ignition off and on again. If indicator does not turn on, repair/replace Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
  2. Turn ignition off. Wait a minimum of 35 minutes for cluster's cold oil drain back calculation to clear. Disconnect oil level sensor connector. Turn ignition on. If low oil indicator comes on and stays on, ensure oil level is okay. If oil level is okay, replace oil level sensor. If low oil indicator does not come on, check for short to ground in oil level sensor Brown wire. If wire is okay, replace instrument cluster.
