Low Coolant Indicator Stays On

  1. Ensure coolant level is okay. Disconnect engine coolant level sensor. Turn ignition on. If indicator does not light, replace engine coolant level sensor. If indicator lights, turn ignition off. Disconnect forward lamp-to-instrument panel harness connector located between left kick panel and steering column. Connect a test light between connector terminal A17 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If test light does not come on, go to next step. If test light comes on, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire near engine coolant level sensor.
  2. Connect engine coolant level sensor to harness. Disconnect connector C3 (Blue connector) from Body Control Module (BCM). Connect a test light between connector C3, terminal C15 (Yellow/Black wire) and ground. If test light comes on, go to next step. If test light does not come on, replace BCM.
  3. Disconnect Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) harness connector. Connect a test light between Yellow/Black wire at IPC harness connector terminal A6 and ground. If test light does not come on, replace instrument cluster. If test light does come on, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black wire between IPC and BCM.
