Fuel Gauge Always Reads Full

  1. Unplug fuel gauge sending unit connector near fuel tank. Turn ignition on. Connect jumper wire between Purple wire and ground. If fuel gauge indicates empty, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, check Purple wire for open or poor terminal contact. If wire and connections are okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Jumper between fuel gauge sending unit connector Purple wire terminal and Black wire or Black/White wire terminal. If fuel gauge indicates empty, repair or replace fuel gauge sender and wiring. If fuel gauge does not indicate empty, check Black or Black/White wire for open or poor terminal contact. If wire and connections are okay, replace instrument cluster.
