Removal & Installation (Eldorado, Riviera and Seville)

1. Raise and support vehicle on frame contact hoist. Remove wheels. On left strut replacement, disconnect ELC height sensor link. Install 2 lug nuts to secure rotor on hub. Remove stabilizer bar mounting bolt at strut. Remove and support brake caliper.
2. Loosen but DO NOT remove knuckle pivot bolt on outboard end of control arm. Use jackstand to support outer end of control arm and slightly compress spring. Remove strut rod cap, mounting nut, retainer and upper insulator.
3. Slowly release jackstand pressure. Compress strut by hand. Remove lower insulator. Slowly release spring pressure on jackstand. Remove jackstand. Rotate strut and knuckle assembly outward.
4. Remove knuckle pinch bolt. See Fig 1 . Remove strut from knuckle. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure strut tang is fully seated in knuckle slot. Tighten bolts to specification. See appropriate TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article.
