Removal (Eldorado, Riviera and Seville)
- Raise and support vehicle on frame contact type hoist. Remove wheel. If working on left control arm, disconnect ELC height sensor link. Disconnect ABS wheel speed sensor from knuckle.
- Remove stabilizer bar mounting bolt at strut. Install 2 lug nuts to secure rotor. Remove and support brake caliper.
- Loosen outboard knuckle pivot bolt at control arm. DO NOT remove pivot bolt. Use jackstand to support outer end of control arm and slightly compress spring. Remove strut rod cap, mounting nut, retainer and upper insulator. Slowly release jackstand pressure. Compress strut by hand. Remove lower insulator.
- Remove ABS wheel speed sensor. Remove inner control arm nuts. Support knuckle and control arm. Remove inner control arm bolts. Remove control arm, knuckle, strut, hub and rotor as an assembly. Raise vehicle and securely position jackstand under outboard end of spring to ensure jackstand will properly support vehicle weight.
- Lower vehicle to compress spring on jackstand. Remove spring retainer bolts, retainer and lower insulator from retainer on supported end of spring.
- Slowly raise vehicle until spring pressure is released from jackstand. Remove spring retainer bolts, retainer and lower insulator from retainer on opposite side of vehicle.
- Remove spring from rear suspension crossmember assembly through disassembled side of suspension. Remove upper spring insulators.
