Installation (Eldorado, Riviera and Seville)

  1. Install upper outboard spring insulators with molded arrow facing toward center line of vehicle. Tighten insulator nuts to specification. Install spring through disassembled side of vehicle. Ensure outboard and center insulator locating bands are centered on spring insulators. Improper positioning of leaf spring will result in reduced vehicle handling.
  2. Install lower insulator and spring retainer on side opposite disassembled portion of suspension system. Position jackstand under free end of spring. Slowly lower vehicle to compress spring so spring seats in suspension support.
  3. Install lower insulator and spring retainer. Tighten to specification. See appropriate TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article. Raise vehicle, and remove jackstand. Install control arm assembly. Install but DO NOT tighten inner control arm bolts and nuts.
  4. Install wheel speed sensor (if equipped). Install lower strut insulator. Position strut rod in suspension support assembly. Use jackstand to support outer end of control arm, and slightly compress spring.
  5. Install upper strut insulator, retainer and nut. Tighten to specification. See appropriate TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten lower control arm nuts with weight of vehicle on ground. Check and adjust rear wheel alignment. See appropriate information in WHEEL ALIGNMENT SPECIFICATIONS & PROCEDURES article in WHEEL ALIGNMENT.
