Removal (Eldorado, Riviera and Seville)

  1. Raise vehicle on frame contact hoist. Remove wheel. When working on left control arm, disconnect ELC height sensor link.
  2. Remove stabilizer bar mounting bolt at strut. Remove and support caliper. Remove rotor. Remove hub and bearing assembly. See WHEEL BEARING  .
  3. Loosen but DO NOT remove outboard knuckle pivot bolt. See Figure . Use jackstand to support outer end of control arm, and slightly compress spring. Remove strut rod cap, mounting nut, retainer and upper insulator.
  4. Slowly release spring pressure, and remove jackstand. Compress strut, and remove lower insulator. Rotate strut and knuckle assembly outward. Remove knuckle pinch bolt. See Figure .
  5. Remove strut from knuckle. On vehicles equipped with anti-lock brake system, disconnect speed sensor from knuckle. On all models, remove knuckle pivot bolt. Remove knuckle from control arm.
