Installation (Bonneville, DeVille/Sixty-Special, Eighty-Eight, LeSabre, Ninety-Eight, Park Avenue)

  1. Replace insulators if damaged or vehicle mileage exceeds 50,000 miles. Install upper and lower insulators on spring. Install spring. See Fig 1 . Ensure tightly wound coils are at top on all "C" and "H" bodies without ELC. On all models, use holding fixture secured to transmission jack. Install control arm.

  2. Slowly move jack and raise control arm into position. Install but DO NOT tighten front and then rear pivot bolts. Attach but DO NOT tighten stabilizer bar to knuckle bracket.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Lower vehicle to normal operating height. Tighten pivot nuts, pivot bolts and stabilizer bar bolt to specification in this order. See appropriate TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article.
CAUTION: Tighten stabilizer bar and control arm pivot nuts in proper sequence, with vehicle at normal operating height.
