Code 54 - Passenger Sense Low High Resistance: Description
During INITIATOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE tests, DERM injects a 150-milliampere current from DRIVER SENSE HIGH output to PASS SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds. DERM then injects a 150-milliampere current from PASS SENSE HIGH output to DRIVER SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds. During these tests, DERM calculates voltage difference between PASS SENSE HIGH and PASS SENSE LOW terminals. This voltage difference is used to determine combined resistance of passenger inflator module, harness wiring and connector terminal contacts. Code 54 sets when resistance is greater than a specified value or an open exists in PASS SENSE LOW circuit between DERM and passenger inflator module connector.
