Code 22 (Chart 1) - Driver Initiator Circuit Resistance Low: Description

During INITIATOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE tests, Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) injects a 150-milliampere current from DRIVER SENSE HIGH output to PASS SENSE LOW input for 50 milliseconds. DERM then injects a 150-milliampere current from PASS SENSE HIGH output to DRIVER SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds. During these tests, DERM calculates voltage difference between DRIVER SENSE HIGH and DRIVER SENSE LOW terminals. Voltage difference is used to determine combined resistance of driver inflator module, SIR coil, harness wiring and connector terminal contacts. Code 22 sets when steering column resistance is less than a specified value or deployment loop high side shorts to low side.
