Code 18 - Discriminating Sensor Interconnect Open: Description
During INITIATOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE tests, Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) first grounds DRIVER SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds and then monitors voltage at both DRIVER SENSE LOW and PASS SENSE LOW inputs. DERM then simultaneously opens DRIVER SENSE LOW output and grounds PASS SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds. DERM again monitors voltage at both DRIVER SENSE LOW and PASS SENSE LOW inputs. Code 18 sets if DRIVER SENSE LOW or PASS SENSE LOW voltage, but not both SENSE LOW voltages, is greater than 3 volts during either INITIATOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE test. Codes 18 and 25 are also tested for approximately 100 milliseconds every 10 minutes. Code 18 indicates poor terminal contact at passenger compartment discriminating sensor.
