Code 16 - Passenger Initiator Circuit Resistance Low: Description

During INITIATOR CIRCUIT RESISTANCE test, Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module (DERM) injects a 150-milliampere current from DRIVER SENSE HIGH output to PASS SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds. DERM then injects a 150-milliampere current from PASS SENSE HIGH output to DRIVER SENSE LOW output for 50 milliseconds. During these tests, DERM calculates voltage difference between PASS SENSE HIGH and PASS SENSE LOW terminals. Voltage difference is used to determine combined resistance of passenger inflator module, harness wiring and connector terminal contacts. Code 16 sets when resistance is less than a specified value or deployment loop's high side is shorted to its low side.
