Code 22 (Chart 1) - Steering Column Resistance Too Low: Description

DERM injects a current of 75 milliamperes through steering column from FORCE HI output (terminal A4) to FORCE LOW input (terminal A10). By monitoring voltage at SENSE HIGH input (terminal A7) and SENSE LOW input (terminal A6), DERM calculates combined resistance of inflator module, SIR coil and connector terminal contact in steering column. Code 22 will set if:

• Steering column resistance is less than a specified value.
• 430-ohm resistor in resistor module is shorted.
• Resistance of resistor module 100-ohm resistor is too high.
• High side of deployment loop is shorted to low side of deployment loop.
