Chart D2 - Inflatable Restraint Indicator Does Not Come On
NOTE:
Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS.
WARNING:
To avoid air bag deployment while trouble shooting SIR system, only use test equipment specified in diagnostic charts. Under no circumstances should battery powered test equipment or test light be used. Carefully follow all instructions.
- Checks if a short to voltage via an ignition fed source exists.
- After DERM is disconnected, shorting bar normally supplies a ground to terminal A1 of DERM harness. When DERM connector from SIR load tool is substituted for DERM, shorting bar which supplies ground to terminal A1 is not allowed to close. Circuit No. 358 is isolated from both ground and DERM so an accurate voltage measurement can be made.
- Checks if DERM is defective or open circuit exists on circuit No. 358. This test also checks for a burned-out bulb.
