Chart C3 - Inflatable Restraint Indicator Comes On Steady

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart. For circuit number identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS.
WARNING: To avoid air bag deployment while trouble shooting SIR system, only use test equipment specified in diagnostic charts. Under no circumstances should battery powered test equipment or test light be used. Carefully follow all instructions.
  1. Checks if a short to ground exists on low side of lamp circuit external to DERM. SIR load tool prevents shorting bar in DERM connector from grounding lamp circuit.
  2. Checks for IGNITION 1 voltage at DERM. When IGNITION 1 circuits are open, DERM grounds lamp circuit whenever ignition switch is on (if SIR INDICATOR HIGH circuit is good).
  3. Checks if a short exists between circuit No. 236 and 358. When these circuits are shorted together, indicator flickers but never fully turns off.
