Timing Chain & Sprockets: Removal

  1. Remove front cover. See FRONT COVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. See Figure .
  2. Align timing marks on sprockets so that they are as close together as possible. See Fig 1 . Remove timing chain damper.
  3. Remove camshaft sprocket bolt. Remove camshaft sprocket and timing chain. Remove crankshaft sprocket.

NOTE: If balance shaft has been moved, ensure alignment is correct. See BALANCE SHAFT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION to check.
