Removal & Installation: Camshaft: Removal

  1. Remove engine. See ENGINE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Remove intake manifold. See INTAKE MANIFOLD under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Remove rocker arm covers. See ROCKER ARM COVERS &/OR GASKET under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Remove rocker arms. See ROCKER ARM ASSEMBLY under REMOVAL & ASSEMBLY. Remove push rods.
  5. Remove valve lifters. See VALVE LIFTERS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  6. Remove crankshaft balancer. See CRANKSHAFT BALANCER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  7. Remove crankshaft sensor cover, then crankshaft sensor.
  8. Remove front cover. See FRONT COVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  9. Remove timing chain and sprockets. See TIMING CHAIN & SPROCKETS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  10. Remove camshaft thrust plate, then camshaft.
NOTE: When removing or installing camshaft, avoid marring the bearing surfaces.
