Check Gauges Indicator
- If indicator does not come on when gauges show a problem, go to step 3). If indicator comes on when gauges show no problem, disconnect PCM connector C3 (Green 32-pin). Turn ignition on. If indicator comes on, go to next step. If indicator does not come on, replace PCM.
- Check for open or short in Black/Pink wire between PCM and cluster and in Brown wire between cluster and alternator. Repair as necessary. If no problem is found, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- If indicator does not come on when coolant temperature gauge indicates overheating condition, go to next step. If indicator does not come on when voltmeter indicates over- or under-voltage condition, go to step 6). If indicator does not come on when oil pressure gauge indicates low oil pressure or when fuel gauge indicates low fuel, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Using a jumper wire, connect instrument cluster connector terminal A1 (Pink/Black or Black/Pink wire) to ground. See Figure . If indicator comes on, go to next step. If indicator does not come on, check for proper terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check Pink/Black wire for open or poor in-line connections. If wire and connections are okay, replace PCM.
- Using a jumper wire, connect instrument cluster connector terminal A13 (Brown wire) to ground. See Figure . If indicator comes on, go to next step. If indicator does not come on, check for proper terminal contact. If connection is okay, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Check Brown wire for open or poor in-line connections. If wire and connections are okay, replace generator.
