Tachometer Is Inoperative Or Inaccurate (3.1L)
- Disconnect tachometer signal filter connector. See Figure . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Check voltage between ground and terminal "A" of tachometer signal filter connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for open in White wire between tachometer signal filter and ignition coil. If wire is okay, replace ignition coil.
- Turn ignition off. Connect tachometer signal filter connector. Disconnect instrument cluster connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector terminal D10. See Figure . If battery voltage is not present, check for open circuit in Pink/White wire.
- If battery voltage is present, measure voltage between ground and instrument cluster connector terminal D7. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, check for open in White wire between tachometer signal filter and instrument cluster. If White wire is okay, replace tachometer signal filter.
- Check for poor connection at instrument cluster connector. If connector is okay, check printed circuit board. If printed circuit board is okay, replace tachometer. If printed circuit board is faulty, replace instrument cluster.
