Speedometer Inaccurate & ECM Code 24 Is Set (3.1L)

  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Check voltage at Pink/White wire terminal of VSS buffer 6-cavity connector. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Pink/White wire between fuse block and VSS buffer.
  2. If battery voltage is present, check voltage between Pink/White and Black wire terminals of VSS buffer 6-cavity connector. If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Black wire between VSS buffer and ground.
  3. If battery voltage is present, turn ignition switch to RUN position. Shift transaxle into Neutral. Raise and support vehicle with drive wheels off of ground. Measure AC voltage between Purple and Yellow wire terminals of VSS buffer 2-cavity connector while rotating drive wheels by hand.
  4. If constant zero volts is present, go to next step. If voltage varies between zero and one volt, check for poor connection at VSS buffer connectors. If connections are okay, replace VSS buffer.
  5. If voltage remains at zero volts, check for open in Yellow or Purple wire between VSS and VSS buffer, or missing or damaged VSS connector seal. If wires and seal are okay, replace VSS.
