Description & Operation: Speedometer/Odometer

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) produces an AC signal proportional to transaxle rotation speed. Signal is sent to VSS buffer (3.1L) or PCM (3.8L) where it is conditioned for use by speedometer. Based on signals, integrated circuit in speedometer controls the speedometer needle and the stepper motor-driven odometer.
