Description & Operation: Gauges: Tachometer

Tachometer receives an AC voltage signal from the ignition coil (3.1L) or computer controlled coil ignition module (3.8L). On 3.1L, signal is sent to tachometer signal filter, then to tachometer. See Figure . On 3.8L, signal is sent directly to tachometer. On all vehicles, tachometer converts AC signal and displays it as engine speed.
