Rear Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

The rear main oil seal is a one piece unit and is replaced without removing the oil pan or crankshaft.
1. Remove transaxle and flywheel.
2. On models equipped w/manual transaxle, remove pressure plate and disc.
3. Using a suitable screwdriver, remove rear main bearing oil seal. Use care not to scratch crankshaft.
4. Lubricate inside and outside diameters of replacement seal with engine oil. Install seal using seal installer No. J34924-A onto rear crankshaft flange with helical lip side facing toward engine. Ensure seal is firmly and evenly seated.
5. Install flywheel and transaxle.
