Fuel Gauge Inaccurate
- Unplug fuel gauge sending unit connector near fuel tank.Connect Tester (J-33431) between sending unit wire and ground. Turn ignition on. Set tester switch to correct resistance value. See FUEL GAUGE TESTING table. Fuel gauge pointer should read "EMPTY", and then move to the "FULL" position. If gauge responds accurately only when tester is connected, check wiring to sending unit. If wiring is okay, replace sending unit.
- If gauge readings correct, check for loose wiring connections on rear of gauge. Check ground connection for good contact. If connections are okay, replace fuel gauge sending unit. If gauge does not respond correctly to tester, check wiring between tester and gauge for continuity. Check printed circuit board for defects. If wiring and printed circuit board are okay, replace fuel gauge.
