Electronic Speedometer
The speedometer utilizes a quartz crystal and integrated electronic circuitry to process an electrical speed signal. A Permanent Magnet (PM) generator, in place of conventional speedometer drive gear, is used to provide vehicle speed data. Speed data, in the form of AC voltage, is sent to the speed sensor buffer and/or to the ECM where the information is processed and sent to the speedometer circuit board. A conventional dial and pointer assembly, along with odometer wheels, are most commonly used for display.
