Gauge Reads Hot With Engine Cold

  1. Disconnect coolant temperature sender. Turn ignition switch to "RUN" position. If coolant temperature gauge reads cold, replace coolant temperature sender.
  2. If gauge does not read cold, check instrument cluster printed circuit and gauge Green/White and Gray/White wires for short-to-ground. If wires are okay, replace coolant temperature gauge.
