Control Arm Bushing Replacement: Installation

1. Ensure bushing areas are clean. Using proper components of control arm bushing kit, install control arm bushing. Use bolt to align bushing installer and control arm bushing.
2. Control arm bushing cutouts must face the front and rear. Press bushing into control arm by tightening bolt of installer. Proper location of control arm bushing may be identified by the alignment of scribe mark through the gauge hole on installation tool.
3. Install bracket on control arm. Align reference marks made during removal. Bracket should be located at a 40-44 degree angle. Once angle is correct, tighten bolts. Clean control arm-to-body mounting bolts.
4. Raise control arm, aligning control arm-to-body mounting bolts holes. Apply Loctite to bolt threads. Install bolts and tighten to specification. Install coil spring. Ensure coil spring is correctly installed. See INSTALLATION under COIL SPRING & INSULATORS  in this article.
5. Install shock absorber, brake line bracket and parking brake cables. Adjust parking brake cable. Connect wheel speed sensor (if equipped).

1. Ensure bushing areas are clean. Install Receiver (J-29376-1 ) on control arm. Install bolt through Plate (J-29376-7 ) and receiver.
2. Install bushing on bolt and install in control arm. Align bushing installer arrow with receiver arrow. See Figure . Install nut on bolt. Tighten nut to install bushing. Control arm bushing is properly located when end flange is even with control arm surface.
3. Rotate control arm upward until mounting bolts can be installed. Bolts must be installed from inboard side of control arm on some models. On all models, DO NOT tighten bolts at this time.
4. Install brake line and parking brake cables. Adjust parking brake cables. Install wheels. Support vehicle at curb height. Tighten control arm-to-body mounting bolts to specification.

Ensure bushing areas are clean. Using hydraulic press, Bushing Installer (J-29376-4 ) and body/receiver, install control arm bushings. Install rear axle.
