Engine Speed Sensor Check

The engine speed sensor on this engine is the pickup coil (pole piece) inside the distributor. It produces an AC voltage sawtooth signal to communicate engine speed and crankshaft position. See Fig 1for resistance check.

See Fig 2for good and bad pickup coil waveforms.
