Removal (Cylinder Head Installed)

  1. Rotate engine to TDC of compression stroke. Remove valve cover, spark plug, rocker arms and push rods on cylinder(s) to be serviced.
  2. Install Air Line Adapter (J-23590) to spark plug port. Apply minimum of 140 psi (9.8 kg/cm2 ) line pressure to hold valves in place.
    NOTE: If air pressure fails to hold valve closed, remove cylinder head for inspection.
  3. Using Spring Compressor (J-5892), compress valve spring and remove valve locks, retainer cap (or rotator), spring and damper. Remove valve stem oil seal.
