Valve Springs: Installation

  1. Lubricate valve stem with oil and install new oil seal. Place spring in position over valve and install spring retainer (rotator). Compress valve spring and install locks. Check valve spring for proper installed height.
  2. Measure from top of valve seat to top of valve spring or bottom of valve retainer (or rotator). If specified height is exceeded, install new valve spring. Remove air pressure and adapter. Install spark plugs. Apply Molykote to ends of push rods and tip of valve stems. Install rocker arms and tighten.
