Engine Identification

Engine may be identified from Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). VIN is on metal tab on top of instrument panel at lower left of windshield. VIN number also appears as part of production or unit number on pad on left front of engine, below cylinder head. The VIN number contains 18 characters. The 9th character identifies engine and 11th character establishes model year. Stick on labels attached to engine identify engine unit number and code.
