Thrust Bearing Alignment

  1. Tighten main bearing cap bolts (except rear main) to specification. Tighten rear main bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 N.m). Tap end of crankshaft rearward and forward to line up main bearing thrust surfaces with crankshaft thrust face.
  2. Tighten all main bearing cap bolts to specification. Rotate crankshaft to ensure there is no excessive drag. Measure end play at front end of rear main bearing using feeler gauge. Standard end play is .002-.006" (.05-.15 mm).
