Speedometer Display

The digital speedometer is operated by an electronic circuit. The vehicle speed sensor, located in transmission, generates an AC voltage whose frequency is proportional to speed of vehicle.

This voltage passes through a vehicle speed sensor buffer and then to the speedometer circuit board in the instrument panel. The solid-state circuits in the digital cluster processes this signal into a control signal for the speedometer display.
