Temperature Gauge Display Is Inaccurate

  1. Remove connector from coolant temperature sending unit. Connect one lead of Instrument Cluster Tester (J-33431) to harness Dark Green wire. Connect other test lead to ground. Set tester resistance dial to 1365 ohms and then at 65 ohms.
  2. Temperature gauge display reading should be low (about 100°F), and then hot (about 260°F). If display is correct, instrument cluster is okay. Replace temperature sending unit. If display is incorrect, check Dark Green wire. If wire is okay, replace instrument cluster.
