Shift Indicator Test

  1. Disconnect C210 connector. Connector is located behind glove box, below support bracket. Place ignition switch in "RUN" position. Connect a jumper wire between Tan/Black wire and ground.
  2. If shift indicator lights, go to next step. If shift indicator does not come on, check Tan/Black wire to instrument cluster for an open circuit. If wire is okay, replace instrument cluster.
  3. Remove jumper wire. If shift indicator light goes out, check Tan/Black wire to Electronic Control Module (ECM) for an open circuit or short to ground. If wire is okay, go to COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS section for ECM diagnosis.
  4. If shift indictor light stays on, check Tan/Black wire to instrument cluster for short to ground. If wire is okay, replace instrument cluster.
