Emissions - Catalytic Converter Replacement

Number 85-SM-37 Date 8/86
Subject: CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACEMENT

1982-85 T-1000 MODELS
Replacement of a catalytic converter on 1982-85 T1000 models should be considered necessary only if the unit is unrepairable (restricted, overheated, damaged, etc.).

A catalytic converter with a broken air tube should be repaired with Service Kit P/N 25057508 (Ref. bulletin 85-6(Gas)-61); replacement of catalytic converter with broken air pipe is not always necessary. In event repair is not possible and replacement is required, contact your Pontiac District Service Manager for instructions and authorization.

All dealership approvals for catalytic converter replacement (Labor Op L2300) on 1982-85 T1000 models under self-authorization are eliminated effective August 1, 1986.

Only labor operation L2300 is being restricted for 1982-85 T1000 models; T1133 for the repair operation may still be self authorized.
